Holiday ideas (on a budget!)

Ok. Help me out here. I want to do something this summer for my holidays with the boyfriend. Of course, as to be expected, money's not really something we're rolling in at the moment!!!!! Being a teacher I'm stuck to peak season prices.

Summer holiday history:
Last year - camping in Wales
Year before - CouchSurfing in Copenhagen

I want to do something cheap but equally awesome this year! Gimme your ideas. Extreme creativity is welcomed :laugh:

Looked at canal boats - we're looking at about £700 plus expenses for a week though! *sniff* I'll investigate the other ideas. Keep 'em coming!

Good point, its cheap if you go with lots of people, i.e. a 12-birth, not so cheap when its just 2 of you!

Scotland, either the mainland or the more remote islands

The Lake District, arguably the most beautiful place in the country. camping is the best way to enjoy it!

A mate of mine just came back from a month long backpacking holiday in Vietnam, he reckoned it was the most beautiful and friendly place he'd ever been (he's 62 and has been everywhere) he said he only spent about £500 in total including flights.
