First exhaust cat removal

Following EBBDude's excellent information that is backed up by the dyno, when looking at completing all his mods myself I have some areas of curiosity.

He has removed the first cat, which together with his other mods has not made his 1.0L micra fail what must be similar emission regs. I have read on here in the distant past that removing the said cat can lead to MOT failure on emissions on some model years.

In the light of EBBDude's comments what have others found?

I once knocked out the cat from a turbo diesel Rover 400(where the cat's effect is not part of the mot test-smoke only) and the engine was so much more responsive, so I know how they can choke an engine.

This is an important issue as a restriction in the exhaust will prevent the big gains that can be found by fitting cams being realised too.

PS if anyone has completed ALL of EBB's mods bar the welded manifold which needs some skill and equipment.........let us all know how it goes!

some have cleared out the cat but have a spare for mot imisions-if needed
and people should post up with the results of ebbs and everyone elses mod results
i think martboy done the fuel pressure regulator test on his blog
