EML, won't start. Try again works fine?

Hi all,

I'm sure this has been posted before but I've searched and can't find what in after.

The other half's 1.0 (02 plate) sometimes refuses to start - it turns over but won't fire - and the EML stays on. She switches it off and tries again and usually it fires straight up.

Once it's been restarted the EML stays off.

Any ideas what might cause it?

Does the EML flash when it wont start?
I'm not 100% sure but I think the NATS (immobiliser) lets the engine crank but wont fire it up.
I'm not too sure how to help you more, just throwing something out there that could help!

I know that when the car has a NATS issue when trying to crank it flashes the EML light on the dash as my key will come out of the barrel in the on position, if I put the key in and turn it to on, then remove the key and turn it to the last position with another key it will crank but wont fire and the EML will flash.

Make sure the the immu unit(the black box on the ignition barrel with the chip detector ring) is secure and fitted correctly. It needs to be, so that it detects the chip on your key.
