ECU issue?

Hi, my first post and sorry it's a question.
ive been having on & off issues with my daughters 2003/1.2s K12 after changing many part's i have just discovered there is no or very weak spark at the plug's (ive changed the ignition switch & tried other coil-pack's)
i'm now thinking the problem lie's with the ignition ecu?
what i'd like to know if posable, can i just swap over the ECU with another with the same "ME C32 040" code or will it still need to be recoded?

Check the ground bolt for the coils and injectors. Where the cam sensor is at the back of the engine is a 10mm bolt, this holds the ground point for coils and injectors. Remove it, clean up the face of the head and the wire eyelet. See if that helps. If you swap an ecu you will need to code the key.
