Changing radio but retaining trip computer

we have a k12 with the trip computer. I want to swap the stock radio only with a single din 7" led screen sat nav. it has a screen that pops out and then slides up when in use. so you can use the sat nav, dvd etc. If i use the existing position of the bottom radio the screen will cover the trip computer!
has anyone managed to swap the two sections over moving the trip down and a radio into the top position.Hope this makes sense. also will the steering wheel buttons still work both the trip and the new radio?

Theres plenty of slack on wiring for both,so no reason they cant be swapped round,as imagine screen from player would block the view of the trip. Dimensions seem identical and both screw into the panel the same way.
