basiacaly i have a pioneer DEH-p7000R head unit
this is what is says in the manual.....
"This product's rear speaker leads can be used for full range speakers or subwoofer connection. if you switch rear speakers lead setting you can connect a rear speaker lead directly to a subwoofer with out using an auxiliary amp."
does that mean i can run a sub with out an amp and still get the same effect?
do i need more wires??

please can some techy person put that in english
cheers
chris

You can run a sub with the speakers but it would be crap sound as your only using the head units amplifier... which is probably no more than 50w...

right fair enough
so if i was to just run it through an active sub it would be better>

I think you would need an active sub that can take a high level input, but you would be better to use the coaxial line out, if it has some.

For a good system for now, id say use ur head unit to power 2 front speakers and 2 rear speakers, then buy a nice sub/amp package and wiring kit from somewhere like www.letsbuycaraudio.com or www.caraudiocentre.co.uk and run that from the line out at the rear or your head unit! It wont cost that much and you will get a good system for your money!

Dont try it, the power output isnt too good and the headunits overheat quite quickly.

Get a good set of front speakers, then a sub/amp combo and be done with :)
