After a day of heavy rain I can hear water splashing when driving near/under the right side (driver's side for me). i found my spare tyre in a pool of water and unplugged the drainage holes but that didnt seem to help with water getting trapped under the car i am guessing the tail lamp seals...

    Timing chain all whacked

hey frank2, pardon me but what's a tickover? i'm assuming idle rpm it's at somewhere above 750 and below 1k mark now without gears engaged. that's pretty high. with gears engaged it goes slightly above the 500 mark.

    Timing chain all whacked

frank, the problem here is the engine stalls when the aircon goes OUT near the end of a stop, which really sucks. there's no rattle. but why is it that shifting the distributor gave no response?

    Timing chain all whacked

In an earlier post I wrote about my stalling problem: https://micra.org.uk/cmf/message/29535 I checked my sparks, unplugged them one by one and the engine dropped RPM, so I can say they all seem to be firing fine. That means distributor should be working, or am I wrong? I brought to a mechanic...

    Help! Stalling engine

Hey kevin thanks for the tip. I do notice some clicking noise when the engine hits about 3k rpm, could it be a cylinder failing to spark causing the noise? my distributor seems to have a loose piece of rubber coming off...

    Help! Stalling engine

Just to add on... it does not always happen unless i get so unlucky the A/C cuts out at the right time, but it gets really frustrating when it happens! I also realized the A/C thing (don't know what it is) attached on the firewall is not original nissan. Would that be a culprit? I don't get...

    Help! Stalling engine

Hey all, its been about three weeks since I've gotten my car back from the workshop from a top overhaul. Now my engine stalls. I've not gotten to re soldering my throttle body but I did try cleaning my idle valve. The symptoms are quite weird and the old mantra goes "if it ain't broke, don't fix...

    Bad fuel economy

    engine stall due to steering?

hey guys, appreciate those who responded to my poor fuel economy post earlier on. a couple of weeks back my radiator started leaking and i got a mechanic to do a top overhaul and found a jammed water pump, so my FC is perfectly fine now however, my engine stalls and just today i found how to...

voltage stabilizers, are they any good?

thanks mate for all the very informative replies. so rite now i might need to send it to an authorized dealer to have the ECU readout checked I guess, it's pretty difficult for me to check for leaks here in SG where we park our cars in a shared carpark. Don't seem like there's any oil leaks...

voltage stabilizers, are they any good?

I just got my car second hand so I don't really know how old the parts are but the batt definately looks small and old. I will bring a voltmeter this evening. Meanwhile I am still puzzled why my FC is really bad, I don't see any oil stains where I park (only water, which I would assume to be...

voltage stabilizers, are they any good?

I'm getting approx 8km/l (18.8mpg) which is very bad. I've got a mechanic to do a regular service which includes changing all the filters you mentioned. (See thread "Bad fuel economy"). He also found a binding brake, which was fixed. Now I am getting maybe 9-10km/l, but that's still bad. I...

voltage stabilizers, are they any good?

gee so i am getting mixed comments. really confused now. i don't seem to see any cables running from the -ve terminal of the batt to the chassis tho. how do i test if my vehicle is properly grounded?

voltage stabilizers, are they any good?

Right... luckily I decided to walk out of that store empty handed. So what about a new battery? Mine looks really old, the type that requires distilled water. The batts I see on the shelve nowadays are "maintenance-free" types. I have yet to bring a voltmeter to test yet tho, what do you guys...
