thanks, sorted my 53 plate out too.

i found that my rattle was ill fitting plastic cover that covers everything, top clips werent clipped in properly.

im only getting 40mpg out of my 53 1.2!

yes i have that problem too. was thinking of stuffin hole with a rag, rubbing it down then hoovering out the filings.

i just put a small screw in each side of the lid where the plastic pegs used to be and pushed it down the grooves whilest in the closed position. operates fine now.
