Ok, so I failed at the first attempt (in fact I didn't even start). The Haynes manual suggests before starting, I need to jack up the car, put it on axle stands, remove the wheel, remove the plastic behind the wheel, and do the job that way. Nothing I have read elsewhere suggests this...

There is sometimes a slight creaking when turning slowly (on car parks etc). I suspect however that if they were knackered - the MOT advisory would have said so/failed anyway.

The Mrs is now fed up with the factory tape player in her new (96 N reg) 1.3 GX Micra. We've chosen an "el cheapo" Kenwood head unit for around £60, but I was just wondering what the process was for removing the existing head unit, as I can't see any holes or screws for removing it...
