squeaking noise

i have got a squeaking noise coming from around where the belts are on left hand side of engine as u look at it.

it sounded like it was coming from the water pump so i oiled the bearing and it was better for a while but its coming back.

i dont think its leaking any water yet so is there any other ideas or is it what i think.

and how hard is it to fit a new water(coolant) pump and how much are they.
if i do change it then it would be a good time to change belts 2??

there not that hard to change if you have the right tools,

it would be a good time to change the belts if you can afford it as you may take them off when changing the pump and find that they are cracked and spliting

belts can wear, i think they need to be changed every 3-4 years anyway - not sure about. however the job is kinda easy just time consuming as you have to remove the wheel arch lining etc the haynes covers it well enough.

belts cost about £4-6 depending on where u get it from.

is the squeeling going all the time or only when u hit it hard?

i have a water pump and belt that was only on the car for 5 weeks you can have the pump and belt for a tenner

have you checked the belt tension. if it's too loose it will squeak.
