I had similar probs, done the soldering, cleaned the points in the distributor cap but still never sorted the prob. What did sort it out was adjusting the distributor itself. Just loosened the 2 bolts, started the engine and slowly turned the distributor clockwise until the engine sounded good...

when you start the car the air bag light comes on for about 7secs so taking the bulb out would sugest their is an airbag fault aswell, unless their not paying attention. better off getting a quote now while you got plenty time to sort it.
