So it wouldn't start this morning making the diagnosis much easier. No fuel pump buzz when the key is turned. After changing the fuel pump with a new the problem has gone. Thanks for your advice, but I think the throttle body is only a problem to be and not one yet.

while i understand that they are exceptionally tacky, McDonald's cup holders, with a little double sided tape, fit perfectly on the dash of an old micra... if you are going for function, and cost, over form. also a drink on the dash may be considered an obstruction. just something to think...
