I would just cut it back gradually until you get to good solid copper and splice the new wiring in from there - much less hassle and by no means a dodgy fix. If the wiring has melted and electrically shorted then you'll need to track down the fuse and replace it too.

Hi guys, Putting a cg13 into a new home and it would make it much easier if I could remove the idle air valve and waxstat cold start mechanism (for space reasons) from the throttle body... Will it still run ok without these? Thanks

The cheapest and easiest way of making the seats more comfortable may be to go and see an auto trimmer and have the cushioning modified. This way you won't have to mess around with seat rails, seat belt points, and ADR/engineering issues.
