Graph of injector pulse width when revved.

What's the bottom scale on the graph? I'm totally confused by it :S

    Intake backfiring under compression braking?

hmmm... the burble could've been unburnt fuel burning the the exhuast 'cos of the retarded timing not giving it enough time in the chamber to burn properly.

    Heater Blowers

It's easy, look for a big round thing under the dashboard at the extreme left, this is the blower (or fan, if you prefer). You will need to move the seat back as far as it will go to be able to reach it properly. Next to the blower is a brown thing, unscrew (2 screws) the black thing that the...

    resistor card

Well there's no gap around the bearing for u to put grease in so I guess some kind of oil, I'm tempted to try 3in1 stuff. Upon inspection the motor seems to only have one bearing, the fact that a cap on the end of the plastic casing pops off to allow access to the bearing would support this. I...

    Heater Blowers

Well, pulled my fan out and there were bits of kack in the fan which could explain the ticking noise it made (but might not), still need to get a new resistor card and have a listen to the fan on low speed 'cos all I can hear on full blast is 'whooooosh'.

    resistor card

God, the inside of that fan motor is the dirtiest thing ever! Carbon dust and grease, blegh. At least it washes off easily. I can only see one bearing, is there just the one and how do I get lube into it? Will copper grease do or would oil of some sort work better?

    Heater Blowers

Heh, my fan controller has just packed up too and it's a good thing I read this. The bit about the dodgy fan motor reminded me that I can hear that the bearings on it are shagged (been using and fixing puters for nearly 10 years, u get to know what a knackered fan bearing sounds like) so now I...

Fuel consumption and How-to save fuel...

Reducing the weight won't make much difference when travelling on the level at high speed as aerodynamic drag dominates. I was going to suggest getting one of the factory spoilers but the Super S already has that, it's possible that one of the smaller ones might reduce the drag but, then again...

Query for Cisco regarding "compact cold air intake"

Toma has a similar line of thinking to me, the stock intake is positioned quite well to avoid heat and (more importantly) water spray (coming up through the engine bay, too). The only thing I could think of to improve that position would be to have some kind of scoop (either in the bonnet or a...

    Minding 2004 WRX

I wouldn't have an Impreza, I hate saloons and the fuel consumption would kill me! I'd quite like an Ignis Sport, though; cheap and fun :)

    Built smart tough

I think that was 5th Gear (UK motoring show), looks like the chase car had done a few crash tests too, lol.

    WHERE DOES THIS GO?

It looks like a spoiler for the top of the boot lid but I could be wrong. The description makes it sound like it should be on a salad.

    Scary moment..................

I think Micras have dodgy brake lines (as well as sills, grrrr) as my 9 year old one is getting some replaced at the next service. My sis' one (a year younger, I think) has had all the brake lines replaced already.

    Valve diameter and cam lift

    I asked Mr. Haynes and he said- Camshaft lobe height: Inlet: 38.005 - 38.195mm Exhaust: 38.005 - 38.195mm Valve clearances: Cold engine- Inlet: 0.25 - 0.33mm Exhaust: 0.32 - 0.4mm Hot engine- Inlet: 0.33 - 0.41mm Exhaust: 0.36 - 0.44mm Valves: Valve head D: Inlet: 27.4 - 27.6mm Exhaust: 22.4...

    Fuel pump enquries...

It's a fair bet they have different flow rates, one's designed for a 1.3 engine and the other's for a 2.0 turbo.

    HELP !

The first bit of the code is likely to be FRont WIPer Left Hand Drive, so u could be on the right track there. Unfortunately my Haynes manual doesn't seem to say anything about wiper controllers so I can't be of any more help :(

    Is this possible?

Ummm I don't know about the model range in Oz but I'm in the UK and I drive a 1996 3-door (or 2, if u prefer) 1.0 Micra Shape NCVT, if that's any help.

    Micras every where!!!

I live in Bradford in northern England and it's impossible to drive through Bradistan and not see one, at least parked up if not rolling. I once found myself in a convoy of 3 K11s going down the road and fairly often find myself in front of or behind one.

    Fuel Prices

Apparently is 'cos the demand for refined oil products now outstrips supply, thanks to hurricane Katrina knocking out a chunk of the US' refining capacity. The oil is there, there just isn't the processing capacity to turn into petrol fast enough.

    Fuel Prices

Buy a diesel, if I get enough money I'd like to get a Skoda Fabia vRS; it's the best combination of power, fuel consumption, price and insurance... well, in the UK anyway. If anyone can remember the UK fuel crisis in 2000 then u might find this interesting- http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4221296.stm
