is there a reason for having two seperate belts most other cars I have had run the alternator,water pump and PAS off the same belt

On my micra (998cc V reg) it has two fan/belts one on goes round the alternator but what does the other one do?

got one today from the scrappy to try but just had a look and its not next to the motor on mine and I cant see it anywhere.do you have any idea where it would be located?

The front wipers on my car dont stop at the bottom of the screen when you use the intermitent wipe will replacing the relay fix this or is it somthing else
