Could it be battery related? From my experience, batteries don't like cold weather! If you've got a basic amp meter, it'll be easy to eliminate at least.

cheers frank. Thanks the air filter, oil and oil filter change done too, again, really easy jobs ... so just the spark plugs left to do now ... but my extention wasn't long enough to reach down, so will have to do this again. Still not got round to the stiff gear stick problem.

Sounds like it could be ignition related. Has it had new spark plugs, HT leads, Rota Arm or Dizzy Cap recently?

Its not the case that there is just a empty socket/connector hanging around to just plug a 12v socket into then! haha!

Its REALLY easy to change the stereo. Before you start, make sure you have the 'radio code' if you want to keep the old head unit. You may also need an adaptor to convert the normal micra connectors to your chosen after market stereo. The only tool you need is a normal phillips screwdriver...

Had it been getting stiff over time, or was it just sudden? If its gradually got worse, a bit of oil squerted into the lock then lock, unlock, lock, unlock, a few times to work the oil in. If it was the latter, i'd be enclined to agree with R-REG-SR! Happened to me, luckily the scumbags...
