My Note got nearly 50K which seems risky to use Sea Foam. But I am more worry about damaging the catalytic converter.
If the issue ever arise and couldn't be ignored, I might go to a walnut blasting service (if there exist one could deal with our engines) which is safest and most effective I think.
Given that DIG-S is direct injection only, I am a bit surprised that almost never heard of any case of excessive carbon buildup on intake valves, except this mild one: https://www.noteownersclub.co.uk/threads/nissan-e12-note-digi-s-supercharged-1-2.7739/post-63692
Probably a stupid thought from...
On Note dig-s, the user manual said the capacity of gear oil is 2.7l, but "NISSAN MT-XZ Gear Oil Passenger Vehicles" instead so I am not sure it uses the same gearbox. A bit weird that Micra uses 'Nissan MT-XZ gear oil Sports and Off-Road Vehicles' instead.
Recently, I decided to replace the air filer of my Note dig-s. While the old air filter (Nipparts) is quite easy to remove/install, it is really hard when I install the replacement one (Ashika). It took more than 1 hour and I nearly broke the air box clips.
I then realized that is because...
In this colder half of the year, I observe the coolant temp stabilised around 84 C for road trips.
Since the aircon heating is pretty slow, I am thinking of partly covering the grill.
Maybe the fan only runs in summer time.
Thanks for the detailed info. Lots of new info for me.
Actually, the service manual put it as [R] - with the squared bracket to denote it is not dependent on time but only the mileage.
Might it be a side-effect of the Miller cycle?
I guess NGKs are the best but I could not find them in...
After trying a dozen of apps on Android, I found this one is the most functional for my Note E12 https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ovz.carscanner
But you may need to try to connect with different profiles to read all sensors.
I actually think of the reverse cause. The engagement/disengagement of supercharger clutch created a mini shock to both belts and both tensioners. Since this happens quite frequently - especially for mostly short trips driving pattern - the tensioners could go bad over time.
As mentioned by...
Thanks for the update.
I guess these parts failed as a chain reaction.
Did they give some speculation on which was the root cause?
Sorry to say that I am looking on autodoc online shop and the main Gates belt is ~12 eur and the supercharger Gates belt is ~8 eur.
Maybe they offset the labour...
I don't know if you go ahead with the repair, but I put some note here just for reference.
This German site said the tensioner part 11955-3VA0A is replaced by 119553VA-0B
