Hi Bob, another thing that I thought of is vacuum leaks, are there any cracks in the pipework between the brake booster and inlet manifold? Also might be worth checking the brake boster itself to be sure it's not leaking air. Other than that, changing the fuel filter may help, if it's blocked...

Does anyone know what the record for the most km or miles a micra has done? Surely there must be a few mircas out there that did courier work and racked up a few. Mines done over 450,000km now, and still going stong.

I typically get 100,000Km out of my air con belt, my micra is an Lx, no power steer. Water pump belt tends to be due for replacement at about 120-130,000km. I think your problem may be the way it is installed, I know you said a mechanic fitted one for you, but he may have just copied the way...
