Decided to keep the car and do the work on it. Have managed to resurrect the head gasket for now....rest will do in time. Thanks for all your help.

it was disconnected a few weeks ago - when the cross member went in. Worked fine before then, just needs re-gassed.

Hi Guys, Wrote in last week having found out Micra had a leaking head gasket... have decided I will try and sell as I can’t afford the repairs. Car could appeal to someone who has mechanical knowledge, as repairs quoted to cost more in labour than in parts. Resale could give a good profit. Or...

ok, I like the way you're thinking re: replace the whole motor. I did give this brief consideration but feared the labour/time costs would add up to be much same. Do you think? I know from speaking to a few mechanics they seemed to dread hearing the words 'fix the head gasket...' a lot of work...

Thanks Nick, I thought the labour costs were a bit steep too, but then one mechanic said it's a 14 hour job.... Anyone know any good mechanics on the Central Coast NSW? Georgie
