    Take the disc and caliper off, cut the old boot off, place mole grips on driveshaft in recess the boot sits in, tap shaft inwards using a bar on the grips to release the shaft from the CV, take bottom strut bolts out, pull shaft free from outer CV, slide new boot on and tap shaft back in CV...

    Yes it's a Midas, I've got both Mini and Metro based one's. I currently drive a K11 The engine fits quite well in a modified Metro subframe, there's certainly more room in that than a Mini subframe. Like you say delving into the gearbox complicates things and adds considerably to the cost...

    I removed the mesh and put this inside the standard airbox, it made it much smoother at low revs and still does about 47 mpg.

    Interesting Frank, the backyard Micra thread springs to mind :) not like Erik's super clean workshop build (did anyone ever find out what happened to him?) Manifold looks interesting, I look forward to seeing more as you progress.
