should i use 15/40 oil in an m reg, cars done 100,000 miles

Can i use 15/40 oil to do an oil change in my m reg micra thats done 100,000 miles or should i use 10/40 ??, im guessing the cars lost compression as its sluggish but is ok after 30mph though... but on takeoff lacks power, its a 1 litre

what oil should i go for ???

should always stick with the same oil so stick with 10w40 :)

(though the Comma Oil book at work lists 5w30,but Nissan themselves use 10w40)

Mine's always had 5W30 and it's on 100,240 miles. A lot of car manufacturers are switching to 0W20 now - google 'Bob is the oil guy' to find a forum where people know a LOT about oil .

Hmmmmm.... I consulted my Haynes manual which recomends 15/40, so i used 15/40 in my 52plate. Should I refill with 10/40 or leave it as it is? Sounds and drives fine fwn

I'd definitely switch out to 5W30. The new thinner oils have exactly the same lubricating rating as thicker oils but the oil gets around the engine SOOOOO much quicker and easier, especially when it's cold :).

Mmm... maybe for the summer. In autumn I'd definitely not run 15! Maybe switch to 5W40 in the autumn :).
