Ok so my alternator packed in, I've got a free replacement but the black covers are different. Can I swap covers because the new one has two threaded connections where as the old had one threaded connection and one plug connection?
my 2 cars have those different setups emmet, the smaller wire goes to the dashlight, which doubles as a resistor to spark up the field coils inside the alt.
so if you wire it so that the dashlight comes on with the ign, then it will charge as normal
i would just bare the wires about 3" from the plug, and add a couple of link wires mate.(then its reversible eh)
