haven't blown a box yet (touch wood) but changed a few due to jumping out of 2nd gear .still got 7 boxes in reserve

re 75 hp

75hhp passed that on the rollers with out a problem and thats at the wheels lol:grinning:

re one of mine

not as pretty as one of yours dave .may have enough pennies for next years one .but this was done at bromsgrove

very impresive motor there mate what inlet setup is that?

Without giving his secrets away 'cos autograss manifolds are usually closely guarded secrets, it looks to be mostly an assembly of proprietary parts from Orchard Engineering who are specialists in this area.

If he took that set up off and fitted the standard MA12 carb and manifold (ugh!) he would instantly lose 25bhp.

i take the credit for the paint Dave, but yes it was Withy
Dave is correct about the manifold ,Orchard engineering all the way through .I fitted it for cosmetics and not raw power ( YEAH RIGHT :laugh::laugh::laugh:)

25 bhp up is good but its the £750 down is the bit i dont like....what figures in torque did you get on smc with that....???

people on here will think !christ! why does it have to be so far away....well for the road you dont need to be as long to acheve the same power but in autograss we need as much torque as we can find and this does help alot with that

passed 80bhp at the wheels bob with a misfire at 5200rpm Torque was even better ,we hope it was the dizzy as we tried everything but that .as for £750 try £384 the week before Christmas .that was the display one at the nationals

Ok,,he must of had a bad week if you only paid that for that,i no of some people that paid 650+ for them setups.......anyway i am not having ago..but you should be winning everything with 80+bhp,,,,,ive won most things with only about 74 bhp even my car has won the nationals (ladies)that is,,,,,,so you must be doing something wrong..lol

Quite agree Bob ,had issues with air leaks after the roll at Map .even then Car can only be as good as the driver and that said i'm still getting me confidence back again after doing me arm ,so hopefully me and the car might have a good weekend .when i had it on the rollers at the beginning of the year it was a fresh engine build so not loosened up and knocked up 77bhp .just praying that another dizzy will make things right now as we isolated all electrics and found nothing ,this misfire has been around for 4-5 meetings now on and of .

yes youve made an awful mess of your arm,,,i am very surprized that they haven't made us all use window nets by now as i think your the 3rd or 4th person that has had there arm come out of the window when they have rolled and there car has roll over there arm..ouch!!!

it was being put forward about nets Bob at a higher level but don't know what will come of it ,all i know is i'd have paid 16 grand instead of the 16 quid for the window net if i knew then how much it bloody hurt ,it's said you could hear me in the next county lol

just in case anyone wonders what me and Bob are on about .( Sorry if it's dinner time :grinning: )

Everytime I see this SU setups, I really want to change my two weber 36dcnf for a SU carb... I only get 75hp AT THE ENGINE! (ok I only have a ma10)

what has been done to the cylinder head?

In Autograss class 2 rule book, it allows the Cylinder head to be skimmed to 110.5 MM minimum thickness, then a three angle valve job, but no cutting of the valve throat, there s a figure of 30- MM dia .mentioned for the inlet throat. after that its all standard , Two Camshaft s are allowed T1 and T5 ,Choosing the the best head helps* , the inlet and exhaust manifold s are free as is the carburettor and air filter .

* Bob may share this information. (Y)

whats wrong with a good old ma10,my one would kick the crap out of any autograss class 2 engine after Mr walker Breathed on the head ( no limits in class 4 on the head ) .lol .shame i couldn't use the head when i changed classes though:(:(:(

just like to add that although we run a 44mm carb the air fuel mixture does have to squeeze it's self through a 32mm restrictar plate

I would really love to see autograss competitions here in Germany... unfortunately I think we don't have such a scene here

That arms a mess Chris but the outcome is better than anyone hoped at the time. I was the "director in charge" at the meeting and was on the scene quickly - met by a senior official telling me "his hands come off"!. Real mess and so pleased you've made such a rapid recovery.

My wife racing a class 8 single seater at the 91 Nationals did a similar thing only worse - arm out in a barrel roll down the track - still a mess today. She had muliple skin grafts, pins and plates, a month in hospital and a years physio! Following year when nearly recovered, went out in Dave Teryy's Class 2 and rolled it on the first lap! I was on commentary and for the first and last time ever I was speechless!

Window nets were all the rage then but NASA then, as now took the view that their responsibility was to recommend them not make them compulsory. They are good for some and not for others. Arm restraints are another option of course.

See you soon, Dave

Just looked on your website Dave... I really hate it to live in Germany... I would be glad if we would have an engine specialist who knows Micra engine as well as you do.

oh god that arm  i don't really know about auto grass rules but yeah as said window nets should be compulsory. i had a mate of mine roll his mk2 escort coming off a roundabout and the window went through and the exact same thing happend to him. also when my mate rolled my corolla his forearm bone thing came out of his elbow  its not a nice thing to see but i can't imagine the pain. glad your mended tho mate.
