Will3's Micra K10 CGxxx

This is the project car, with MA10S now, plan to put either a CG13DE or CGA3DE (boosted), but i shall begin using ha CG10DE as a dummy.

Along with my winter car, Mercedes-Benz 230E 91' automatic, was going to boost this but didnt feel it was worth buying a MS for it.

Going out to remove driveshafts så that i can lift the engine out, can i refit the wheels without axels and roll the car around?

Yes will, best to leave the calipers off too, else the discs will rub :)
And shove some rolled up cardboard into the diff splines

Is it a straight from then from the MA to the CG?

I'd love a K10 and this one looks really clean! bit optimistic with that Photoshop though ;)

I will use the 5-speed from the MA on the CG, so only need to make one custom mount.

Yeah i know, it was just for fun :)

The CG10 is finally in :) now i just have to build the camchain side mount, im thinking about making a plate that fits over the cam cover on the side and weld a mount onto that, what do you guys think?

The steel inspection cover will ? Wont be strong enough eh, the 3 bolt alloy k11 bracket is ideal for the job really

I sawed of the middle bolt thing on that bracket, so will see what ill do, might make a jig and make a prettier mount. I will not modify the mount in the car in any way.

Theres no room for reinforcements tho :( so ill make it 6mm then :)
EDIT: and i only have MMA welder so will keep welding to a minimal.

I love this so far. I am going for the cg13 engine transplant soon so ill keep and eye on this. You keeping injection?

Id be very careful about welding that mounting if i was you.... visions of dripping rubber spring to mind. for my racer i just welded 2 6mm flat plates on a base and welded it to the chassis leg just in front of the original mounting, not overly pretty but very effective and it allowed the use of the original engine mounting for the k11 to be used. Its critical to get your alignment spot on though, by this i mean drive shaft alignment but also engine height/ tilt. Any error could cause problems with oil starvation under hard cornering/acceleration. Dont just think that the gearbox mount will keep it all in line, it wont.

Ive been very careful with the alignment, i just tack welded it, i will remove the rubber bushing while i weld the remaining, also with the mount out of the car.

Not a great picture really but you get the idea of what i did. actually looked alot tidier when it was all finished. That cg10 engine had 207,000 miles on it when i pulled it out of the donor car!!!! still showed 70psi of oil pressure at tickover, dropping to 50psi when red hot after a race, i only put it in for a laugh but it turned out to be a little flyer, screaming its head off quite happily between 7-8k rpm with 1300 cams and very light flywheel. Ran with k10 dizzy/coil with k11 leads. dizzy was modified and a special collar sat in the head to accept it. A very simple but effective way to do away with the injection/ecu wiring

Well, i dont really want to make anything to the chassis, i think the one i did will work just fine, also i have no intrest with using anything from the MA10 except the gearbox (for now) as i hate carburators, this is not going to be a racecar, im trying to build an everyday driver (for summer) with some extra juice, goal is 200hp at the wheels, the CG10 is just a dummy, later it will be a CGA3 with forged internals and turbo.

Mount is done now except paint, will have to make a new alternator mount to be able to use 100A Bosch, since the engine didnt have an alternator, and get a throttlecable aswell.

Might use these rims, flip the centre, sandblast all the rust off and powder coated them mate black :-D

Since the fuel end of the build came to a halt, i got abit carried away and removed the dash, that way the wiring can be done properly.
