Will a MAF sensor fault warrant a lean AFR?

Hi all, I recently did an OBD scan to check what was causing my check engine light

It threw up two fault codes, P0100 (MAF sensor fault) and P0171 (System too lean - bank 1)

I expected the MAF sensor fault and a replacement is already on the way, but would that also be the cause of the lean AFR in one of the cylinders?
I'm pretty sure fitting the new MAF sensor will fix both these issues, but I was just wondering if anyone could confirm this (or tell me otherwise lol).

Bank 1 refers to the whole inline-4 block.

Since the MAF is faulty, ecu will detect & highlight the out-of-spec reading.

Also with the wrong MAF input, the ecu won't know the exact air input, therefore mixture will be wrong.
O2 detects the odd mixture, tries to adjust fuel trim to correct till it runs out of range and triggers the too-lean code
