What things to check?

Hi, I have a 1L K11 jap import and would like to know some things to check other than the usual plugs, fluids, filters, brakes etc to make sure its running purfectly. I cant help thinking thats it has a huge flat spot in the rev range.

On the way home from Derby -> kent yesterday I found that it seemed a lot more eager to go than at other times. Sometimes it would not have a prob going up a hill and others times it struggled. This was all on the same journey.

I do not want to drop a 1.3 lump in it before someone sugests that.

Also, the Aircon did work (very poorly) when i first got it, so i assumed it needs a regass. Now the compressor doesnt even turn on! Is there a way of getting some diagnostics on the aircon system?

Last but not least but does anyone have an electronic copy of the nissan service manuals (engine, air con, electrics, cooling system, etc, etc) that i could blag a copy of?

Not asking for much am I?

sounds like the air con compressor has packed in. In japan they constantly have it on hence. When i bought my car it had its 2nd compressor recently put in.

so does the compressor even work when there is no coolant in the system? Most aircon systems will not engage if there is no coolant gas in the system, does anyone know wheather it would still engage when there is no coolant?
 
tell you the truth mate not many people here have micras with air con. All the jap imports have air con, uk spec ones was optional extra.

take it to a air con specialist if you want he could help you out a bit i reckon.
 
It will run a lot better if you run it on optimax or add an octane booster to take your fuel closer to the 100ron they have in Japan.
Aitcon sounds like it needs a regass
 
Thank for that craig, i havent actually tried tescos 99ron or i may take a trip to maidstone and try some of the new 102ron BP stuff, seems a little overkill for the car though, what if i swap the ECU for a UK one? Feul additives, well as you know there are very few that actually increase the octain buy a substantial amount, well enough to make a difference anyway.

In regards to the aircon, i thought as much, the clutch doesn't even engage on the pump!

Any ideas on tweaking the performance of the car without changing anything on it. I.E. leave the car completely std on the outside but maybe tweak the timing and feuling maps. I am far from expecting miricals just release the odd 1 or 2 ponies here and there. Must look completly std from the outside though, for insurance purposes.
 
further to this have run it almost dry twice and used optimax in it. It now feels quite a bit more eager but still not 100% right. Is it possible that it could be the TPS on the throttle body, seems like a common problem, is there anyway to test it?
