What obd plug do you use?

Some of these k11's don't have a universal port at all and require nissan-specific plug in consult as well as a nissan card which slots into the bottom of it

on the left 14pin OBD1 port, but may require nissan software
on the right 16pin OBD2 port, should be universal but not law in the UK until 2001 (petrol) and 2003 (diesel) - American cars got it sooner, Japanese cars have something differently entirely but micras were made in Sunderland.

Using a converter from OBD1 to OBD2 doesn't work unfortunately, it can't read the protocols

If all you're trying to do is get basic codes off it, you can short out 2 pins on the OBD1 port which will show fault codes by flashing the check engine light a certain amount of times. But if you're trying to do something more complicated like get a live read of emissions or other signal data then you'd need a nissan-dealer specific tool.
