Removed all idle control from the car as both the waxstat and idle control valve were giving me no end of trouble all week for starting and idling. After fitting my semi slicks last week I was out testing them on a very spirited drive when the car cut out and was VERY difficult to start and would not idle. This has turned out to be down to both idle control systems being faulty. Car simply needs some feathering of the throttle on startup and half a minute to warm up and presto no idle problems. Here's a recent pic with all 4 r5 turbo wheels on.

Exhaust also snapped off at the backbox (fitment was awful anyway) so fabricating up a side exit this week as I'm loving the noise of no backbox!

Done a LOT in the last week, and no real time yet to write it all up. But been out with the welder today and welded up those splits and also seam welded the front strut tops now. Been a busy few hours with the welder today!

Drove her for the first time in over a month ! Had a good shakedown session, couldn't push too hard as it was wet and on Umbongo road tyres. But was enough to fully test and bed things in. Now almost all set ready for the weekend :)

Will try and update the blog with all the work during the week.

Got the Car back after the MOT Repairs. Nothing major, A bit of welding, a droplink, Handbrake adjustment and a CV Boot. Today I painted the spare Wheel Black, it wasn't bad to begin with but looks better now. The bloody wind got up though, Sods law.

Good news! I've got a job again :) I've managed to find part time work at my local Sainsbury's. Around £110 a week so that should be enough to let me carry on with the K10!
On top of that i sold my beloved Volvo 740 to Max P so that is money towards insurance for the K10!! Soon i'll have her back on the road and i cannot wait :D
Well done mate looking forward to your updates with pics on your cool K10! :)

Andy :D

Yeah I've noticed small improvements in mpg, I think mine has been faulty for ages though and just finally went completely. Aside from there being a bit of a technique to getting it started from cold it's golden . May have to up the idle in the winter when I'm going to be using lights and blowers on full a lot more.

it's wild the winter technique, half the foot on brake the other tilted on the acc pedal. :)
did you try cleaning you idle valve out.and you can set it very low idle for winter anyways.

My car starts first go every time no worries but once it's warm, if you're driving and put the clutch in, it will idle fine for 2 or 3 seconds then the revs will drop, pick up, drop, pick up, drop, pick up etc

Drives fine and never stalls, just a bit annoying

Would that be a clogged idle control valve?

Yeah no joy with cleaning it. May have been the o ring putting it back together but I lost patience and needed the car to drive to Cardiff the next day so saw a solution and went for it! Yeah it's never stalled loaded up with amps but the revs do drop quite a lot with headlights, wipers, demister, blowers etc on but that's no surprise .

If the engine is non-coilpack, the fast idle waxstat might be seized open which upsets the iacv and idle bleed valve balance. The idle control valve might also be sticky or out of calibration.

Loom transplant nearing completion.

Slight issue with wiring.

The cga3 loom has 5 doors worth of central locking and electric windows.
The 3 door doesnt.
So matching up the wires is a pain in the arse.

Ill get there.

Got the whole loom in. At last.
Engine is ready to come out.

Im going to need to stick with the cga3 box until i go standalone as the cg10 box doesnt have a crank sensor hole in it.
Grr.
Matching up the loom to the preface one... WHY have they changed the colours of key wiring?

Hate nissan sometimes.
