what did you do to your micra today ?

Changed the engine oil today, don´t want to know how old that stuff was that came out of the oilpan
While the old oil was dripping out I removed the front bumper to check the damage, gave the bent holder some whacks with a hammer to straighten it out a bit.

Also new wiper blades (with spoiler:cool:) and gave the steel wheels a little bit of flat black spray because they looked so sad.

Still need to replace the belts and the gearbox oil, didn´t know where to fill the fresh oil in so I left it for today.

i also ordered new brakes and I´m still waiting for the new rocker cover bolts to replace the old leaky gasket.

That´s it for today

Got thinking today after finding out a way around the +25% cc rule for stage cars. What power and torque does the SR20 give as standard, and what mods are available easily?

there 147 bhp 134 lb ft of torque for the gt version /sri/sx versions 128 bhp 128 lb ft of torque/ tuning wise same as most n/a cars exhausts /air filters etc etc right up to turbos ie pulsar stuff 500bhp monsters

How much can this swap cost for basic engine and gearbox with running gear all on road ? If I was to do this my self

This is a rally car I am not cutting the chassis!

Handy hint re the BMW pump though, custom shafts are less than £500, and would make servicing easier. Can you get a 'diff' for the SR20 gearbox?

Have u thought about any other engine swaps

Not really, ideally would be good to keep it a Nissan lump. Hopefully won't be needed as I like our current engine, but a SR20 swop could be cheaper than replacing our current engine...

Can be cheaper, yes, so brakes from sr ? And all the engine mounts from sr ? Should be a ideal swap

Not long got back from picking up my very own CG13! Looking forward to sticking it in the K10 on bike carbs! Flipping long trip though
(340 miles round trip, did it all on £30 with some left so can't complain with that!)

Not messing with any of the fuel injection system, using the dizzy from the K10 engine on the CG (bit tricky but needs to be done) and running it on a set of bike carbs.
So i keep all of the K10 electrical system and the same gearbox shafts ect :)

Guessing you've though about the GA16 engine as well?

They're lighter, so better for racing, and can still produce decent power figures. Smaller as well, so slightly easier to fit in.

Yep thought of the GA16 too, mostly just idle thinking really...

I guess either of the engines would make a micra awesome fun on the stage.... I doubt it'd ever be truly competitive in a 2.0 class, maybe it would be in the 1.6 classes, but it would be a hell of a lot of fun!

I agree with you Alex, @SuperUno you'll be so uncompetitive with a SR20, competition will be £30k+ Escorts and the like, not a chance imo, unless you also wanna spend big money on it and get an old BTCC Primera engine for it o_O. With the GA16 I think it'll be alright in the single venue stuff but on any 'serious events' you'll still get old S1600 cars that won't be beaten.

I've been in similar shoes and I couldn't fault my old micra as 1000 and 1300cc rally car but I wouldn't contemplate sticking a bigger engine in for rallying. There's plenty of easier/cheaper/better cars out there for 1600cc or 2000cc classes but I guess it very much depends on what you want out of it.

I agree. There's a limit you can reach before it's cheaper/easier to just buy a newer/faster car.
My dad was telling me a story of a lad who used to rally a classic mini. Spent so much money trying to keep up with 205's... In the end just bought a 205!! (And why wouldn't you..)

SR2.0 Turbo is out as then you really are with the big boys in the WRC class!

At the moment in the 1400 class, we are battling cars with 190bhp+, sadly in staging unless you spend big money someone will always have more power than you... At the moment I would have got better results entering in the >2ltr class than the 1400 class as the 1400 & 1600 classes are very competitive.

Sr20 rally micra would be brilliant fun though! Saying that a standard 1.4 micra (mine) puts down decent stage times, and SuperUno's is much faster than mine (but more expensive and complicated!)!.

Also...how do you know my name?! Maybe I know you on Facebook, maybe you're my stalker, long lost friend...? Please enlighten me haha :p

The Micra demanded it first blood from me today

Was my own fault, was wondering why I couldn´t get the nut from the tensioner pulley loose and slipped off.
Turns out I should have left the bolt inside because you cant get the nut loose without it doh.

But ahh well, hope I don´t have to open it up again anytime soon.

New brakes have been shipped today and should arrive in the next two days.
