what did you do to your micra today ?

My son see an elderly couple towing a full size caravan yesterday. Said it was pointing up in the air.

I drive for a living and have seen some weird stuff too.

Started putting everything back together. I gave up on the audio cables because honestly, I don't care about having stereo enough to go through all the cables. Of course another "issue" or should I say issues came up. Does anyone know what causes a pretty loud "electric" voice (sorry, best I can describe it as..) that goes on for 5-20 seconds after I start the car. It seems to be coming from somewhere right in front of the driver. Keep in mind my car is LHD. The sound is quite brutal and loud buzzing type of sound and it happens sometimes when I start the car up. Also the car fires up the millisecond I turn the key when it's cold but if it's warm it starts quite rough sometimes.

I have to admit it.. I bought a lemon. In my defense there was no way I could've known about the issues. When test driving, everything worked just fine. Glad the car was pretty cheap anyways. Going to finish putting the dashboard together and hope to god nothing else breaks.

Sorry I can't help.

.... But perhaps uploading a video onto YouTube, then posting a link on here might help someone see and hear your cars problems?

Yeah I thought about doing that. I'll just have to record every time I start the car until it happens again since it doesn't occur on every startup.

I went round my mates and compared cars...
Both 1.0. Different gearbox housing, electronic ignition...tried looking for the engine number couldn't see it on the gearbox on mine. His was a pig to see, we gave up.
His had 14 inch steel wheels that were lower profile, but no aircon.

Also corner scaled the car, just to get a base weight. Tipped in at 706.5kgs.

Still some minor work to do plus coolant and fuel to go in. Should be pretty close to 740kgs wet. There's a few more lightening parts to go on, (in time), so the original target of 800kgs wet, with driver is definitely achievable.

Blimey, what's happened there Mr. Rider ?

It's an internal pedal box. For this engine and the next iteration, we needed to free up as much room as possible for intake work. Neither the OEM setup, nor twin mounted bulkhead master cylinders facilitate that, so it was time to 'up the anti' and opt for an internal solution. Now we've got plenty of room to optimise the induction system.

Just done R/H wine bone and moved wheels around.

Sadly I found hole in rear axle it's pass welding now been welded to much I think.

Comes to the question I really don't want to scrap her. Does anyone in north west have a rear axle for sale and would be willing to fit as well?. I just don't have to space or the gear now I've moved.

I'm located in Lancaster

Sourced a axle out bit of a drive to pick it up tho.

How much you guys reckon it will be to get fitted been priced £150 seems abit seep

Picked up a good 200++ kilos of wood in it today. Wife was worried as the back end was well low. :D

I dare say I have a lot less in the car than you do. For one that's with only a driver's side seat in. All of the interior is gone, including fans, heater matrix, controls etc. The dash is just the bare shell, all air ducting, vents have been removed etc. I don't have any of the gear you do, such as nav/timing equipment, extinguishers, underbody protection, spare wheels, tools etc.

sourced and fitted some revcounter clocks (from an slx) and had to fit the damn jump wire from the ecu plug to the black plug nearby, in order to get the tacho to work fwn

I want to do this as its really annoying not knowing the rev count. any ideas where a SLX instrument cluster can be had? also what wire needs connecting?

Yesterday I did the most important thing, buying the Micra itself. Got a nice red 1999 K11 1.0 pretty cheap. (Roughly £965, which is cheap here in Norway) 130000 km and grandmother driven since 2009. Looks to be in pretty good shape but had some nasty rattling from the heat shields on the front part of the exhaust. Went to the hardware store and got me some stainless steel hose clamps to replace the old clamps that had rusted right through. Sorted out the problem quite nicely.

Well fitted new hand brake cables.

New rear axle near fitted. Waiting on to control arms couldn't find anywhere that sold them had to buy two of eBay from Poland for £54 :(

The cup that one of the arms sits in. Has give way and created a big hole were the bolt goes thru

Does anyone live close to Lancaster that would be willing to stick weld/arc weld a little plate on for me?? I'll pay! Just seems stupid paying £100 for a stick welder to do this one bit.

That's no good is it. When mines gassed up it's really cold and works well. Maybe your compressor is a bit bobbins.

Yep, not great. Have to take it back to the garage. They know someone who fixes Aircon locally. More expense.
I've spent a small fortune on it so far in parts. Could have bought a nice 207. Hay ho.

Just bought these clio 15" wheels £85. Came with 4 random Chinese tyres. Need decent tyres as the wife drives it too, £160.

It looks more like a bleedin 4X4 now and I can't lower it without it fouling.

Looks higher and more manly I suppose. Less boy racer for an old fart like me.

Got any photos of yours bud?

Well went tp the scrappys and found a near topspec inspiration 1.3 so stripped it put and new have spilt rear seats with headrest in my little yelow inspiration :)
And found a few other k11s but only two were any decent for upgrads or better parts and found another cheap forsale lol
Even know ive got stripped out a sport+ to do welding and replace the engine and then put back together and mot
And yesterday sold my Micra s to a funny enough a ex car deal who gave the car a full exam and every thing and except a worn door hinge could not fault it :)

I went to a local scrapyard Saturday.
Stood on a load of broken plastic parts and nearly lost my virginity again on a Vauxhall bumper laying in a massive puddle. Place reminded me of that scene in star wars where Luke and hansolo got stuck in that scrap room on the death star. Not idea for a first time visitor.

New shocks and springs all round. Handles very surefooted now. It doesn't react like a speeding Gypo with a wheelbarrow full of stollen scrap metal.

15" wheels make it handle well but a bit wayward in a straight line. Only way to describe it is like...going too fast on roller-skates?? But then it does have 4 different types of Chinese tyres I've never heard of on them. So it's a conundrum, new tyre's or sell the wheels on??

Sounds like tram-lining, my MGZR suffered badly from this when running 17" wheels, changed to 15" and problem solved.

Does sound similar.
I've decided to go for it, new tyre today. Worth a go. Getting new bushes and rubber stuff sorted on soon. Try and tame the beast.

Kind of like the off road look myself.

Beaulieu simply Japanese tomorrow.

My lads polished his WRX to death.

I've hoovered me twister out. New tyres and suspension all round. Handles really well. Like a go-cart tbh. Went shopping in it this morning, on the way my wife told me I was going too fast into the corners?? Grips like sh*t to a blanket. Trade off of 15"s is bouncing. Less tyre wall.
I have my used Almera 1.6 N15 calipers to go on yet. Discs and pads are £40.

I can see this getting addictive.

Great fun. Just need more power now, or any power.

yesterday got a cga3de engine with 35k on it for the sport+ aswell as getting spot lights for my bumblebee from a si
and today had a lovely bloke come up 2 1/2 hours away to get tacho clocks and tweets and generally help him with his little micra :)

Remember a couple of months back when I said don't drive like an idiot. Well........ I drove like an idiot. Me and my treasured slx did a roley poley. Ended up on my roof. I had just spent so much money on getting the poor bastard thing sweet. So.... Soon when I get hold of my car. Currently being held in storage. I'll have a full super s body kit including flaps and spoiler steering wheel seats and rev clocks. Also march rear lights parcel shelf with speakers a set of BMW E30 bottle cap alloys with good hankook tyres. Bilstein b4 shocks mated with direnza springs. The shell and engine have been sold for banger racing. Might be a couple of weeks before I can get my hands on my car but thought I would let you guys know. Give me a message if interested in any of these bits. I have so many more spares and parts I just need to get rid of it all. I know I'll regret this as it took me years to collect. I feel like a traitor driving a bloody German car. But such is life
