what did you do to your micra today ?

no right to moan its your car and its different low on wide13"s with loads of poke is becoming overdone in my opinion :)
Cheers guys. I do like that you can mod your car your own way here and ppl are not negative. All apart from one wheel have good tyres. Two are brand new which is a bonus. They're slightly bigger than mine though at 185-65-14 instead of 165-60-14. So I'll see how it feels. If its too heavy or looks like a monster truck I'll have my original tyres put on.

Its £30 fine. :( It was in routine check. this traffic officer is vehicle checker and accident specialist. That is why he warned me about accidents.
But what risk does no doorcards pose to other motorists? As that's what his job is. Not to be telling you whats safe for you, as that's your choice. I'd appeal mate big time

yea i know. my cousins told me same as you. i tried to back up but he was so rude to me so i dont want to spoil everything. i asked my dad to appeal but he told me to not spoil everything. This is so sad part so police told me that i cant drive so i had to walk from there to my house. (its about 7miles ) I had to take my super s doorcards then my dad dropped me back where i got pulled up. he told me that he will leave this spot at 12. i was there at 11.45 so i had to wait for him for the paperwork. i waited until 1.30 so nothing happen so dad came there. he told me to not worry cos police wont come back. i was like wtf. i knew he was bullock to me.

i was planning to go to my local police centre to talk about this but i am not sure. i just want to pay this money lol.

he told me that any cars can crash into my doors so it will be dent in and cut throught my legs and arms. he talked like rubbish so i told him that my doors got rods support. he said to me that he dont care. he was so rude and didn't give me clear information for the reason. i wasn't strong to go for it.

anyway, i don't want to do. it might be better to pay the money. by the way, it is my first time so next time, i will be stronger this time. i signed everything lol so i know that i am stupid.

Despite people's opinions, driving without doorcards is considered to ba a hazard and will always result in the same outcome, (be it a rare occurance). I know of people who have tried to contest this and they have lost at greater expense than the original fine and time required to rectify it. Bottom line, what you do on a race track, (some rally classes require removal of doorcards), is not the same for what you need on the roads. It may not make immediate sense but them's the rules....

Thank yourself you didn't get any points to go with the fine. Some traffic cops can be rather condescending when it comes to things, but the main thing is to remain calm, sort it and move on.

Personally, I have no intention to drive without door trims, for the very reason they are a hazard. It will also do nothing to improve performance when most of the weight resides in the window and winder mechanisms.

yea thanks. yea i know that i am lucky so i wont do it again anymore. yea true so its all about hazards. i should put these doorcards back before.

Bottom line is driving is a hazard. Crossing the road. This country is health and safety gone mad.
If you present a hazard to yourself they can't fine you for it. Its as bad as smoking at the wheel or a hot drink. Which are more likely to cause an incident. Could go further to say stretched tyres are a hazard because of the rim pop off many get on corners but you wont get fined for that.
I will continue to not use my door cards. I like having the inside of my door to put things in.
I'd be asking this officer what hazard they cause exactly as if I was going to be driven into the side of I'm pretty sure 2mm abs isnt going to save me ;)

Something i never understood being aloud to smoke & drive. Smoke / ash in your eyes & burning tobacco that can drop in your lap!
Yet doorcards are the hazard. Ive been in a car where the fag they chucked out the window came back in and went behind them... scary experience :(

I've been in a car when the large loogie the driver spat out hit his mate in the face who was sat in the back........hazards can come in many forms lol ;)

to be able to replace the original existing side repeators/indicators for new clear/smoked/modified side repeators, copy as follows:

1: gently twist the side repeator anti-clockwise (this may have been stuck down, so gently increase pressure untill movement
2:eek:nce indecator has turned this should pull straight towards you and away from the wing
3: pull cable all the way out until you reach the connection block, remove this from the hole aswell..
depending on which style of side repeator you have purchased this may be as follows:
for repeators with similar connection block

1: unclip the connection block from old existing repeator and replace with new repeator
2: re-place the indecator into its correct position making sure all cable is tucked back in.
(slight body work may be required or the use of a sticky pad may be required for this stage.
for repeators that dont have connection block
1: using a pair of wire snips and wire strippers cut the existing cable shielding at a conveniant length and srtrip to bare cable
2: strip the new cable shielding back to bare cable
3: connect the corrosponding cables together using sufficiant means I.E. connection blocks
4: re-place the new repeator and cabling back intot the existing hole, again slight body work or the use of a sticky pad may be required

test the repeators before making a journey
Some more comical than others. I have done the same but I threw half a lit fag.

Welding done, just raised the front 25mm, stainless bolts for bottom rear shock mounts fitted, and hopefuly she'll pass tomorrow!

Not posted for a while however the 'Red Dwarf' plods on and on untill yesterday when the exhaust split:(. All sorted today with a new rear section/back box:). Flip it's quite! We can now continue with our plodding........

WDID? had a welcome event at college, i suddenly felt old, at 35 i am twice the age of all the kids there, but found out i am more than welcome to work on my own car, using the workshop and tools, happy days. Also found out my lecturer used to prep road cars for track use.

I'm not jealous :)

This is true, trouble is, no one wants to take on a 35 yo without the bit of paper that says i can do it, even tho i can, so i am having to pay for my course, 1200 quid later i should get that bit of paper, and hopefully get a job from it. So as you say its never to late, just costs a bucket load to do it.

karlj, they got a saab 9000 2.3 turbo in the workshop that they are scrapping, i have been eyeing up parts i want from it, ie boost pipes and a few others, one of the workshop guys said if its still there when i start in sept, i can help myself. Very happy with that
