Waterpump + alternator belt

Hi guys,

As i'm woriking on my sisters micra K12.

I was wondering when i should replace the waterpump?

Also, how do i get the 2 belts off? (alternator and waterpump belt)
There is like no space whatso ever..

Any tips?

Im guessing its petrol as it has two belts. The easiest way from the top is:- loose the tensioner nut that is on the pulley below alternator. It should be 14mm. Then use an 8mm on a socket and extension through the bumper. You should just see it hiding below the alternator itself. Thats the one belt. The other you will have to do from under the vehicle. Jackit up and secure it on stands. You will see the pulley above the driveshaft closest to the bulkhead. Thats the tensioning pulley, loose the 14mm nut and then use a 12mm on ratchet to undo the tensioning bolt. If you need pics i have an engine stripped out at work i can take pics of.

For mine,i removed the wheel an arch liner. Takes longer,but bags more space. If you remove tension pulley nuts altogether,dont forget locctite them when refitting,else you'll loose the lot soon after all your hard work,as i did lol

Which nuts do you mean? the nut thats straight on the pulley or on the tention bolt? (or doesnt it work like the system that is in most cars alternators?) like this: http://www.msprotege.com/members/wooz202/step10a.JPG

The nut in the center of the tension pulley. Got a pic of yours? The petrol ones have 2 different types

The pulley moves back and forth to tighten the belt,alternator is an stays in a fixed place
