vents in door panels

Hi
okay a question to make you all laugh, as the answer is probably obvious but I am going to ask it anyway.

what is the purpose of the black vents / grille on the inside door panels ?

Reason for asking is when driving, cold air is rushing in via this vent. Even heating on full does not stop me from getting cold on this side.

Despite looking in the owners manual and the Haynes book (neither appear to mention these), I don't know what purpose they serve.

If they are where the speakers are, then why is cold air coming through.
If on the other hand they are there to allow stale air from inside the car to be disapated to the outside then they aint working.
My other thought was perhaps to prevent condensation but I have more ice on the inside than the outside!!

Any advice (once you have all stopped laughing) will be much appreciated.

Cheers

They stop the doors from building up with condensation.

Good question :)

It don't half get draughty where they are, I wonder why they didn't put them in the bottom of the doors?

crikey!
Thanks everyone for replying so fast, it's much appreciated.

I will try and put a photo on when my daughter comes back - she is away on hols at moment - nice freezing weather and draughty vents aswell. I don't envy her one bit.

Cheers
