Turquoise GX and Blue Inspiration

You know how, sometimes, you know something but you are not sure how you found out?

One of the things we regularly have to repair is the front exhaust mounting. The one in front of the second cat. It rusts, breaks and rattles.
We have a nice technique for repairing them, rather than paying Nissan loads of cash and having to bu**er about with rusty cat bolts.

What you need is...

...the remains of the exhaust mounting and a length of Micra K11 bonnet stay! Its ideal because its the exact diameter of the sleeves that sit in the exhaust mounting rubbers and its solid, not hollow.

Measure and cut the bonnet stay to length and grind or cut off the jaggy edges of the mountings.
Then slide the mounting sleeves onto the ends of the stay. Tap them home with a hammer.

We weld them in place after that but they are quite a tight fit so you could get away with leaving as it is.

Then fit it in place and weld it to the exhaust! Nice! (Y)

That was all we had left to do on the GX. We need to replace the drivers door, we have a red one we could use but we decided to start our next Micra and hope a turquoise door turns up.
