Turboing a 16v

Hi there new here and just wanted to ask a few questions

I own a classic mini and was thinking of fitting a Nissan 1.3 16v engine in it but also fancy a turbo

What do I need to do to turbo a Nissan 16v thanks

For low boost the pistons hold up alright. If you can get the automatic engine the block is stronger. Then you need turbo, manifold, mappable ECU ( nistune or standalone), injectors and a top rail feed (facelift Micra) maybe fuel pump depends on boost. Think that's it.

thanks mate when you say auto engine is it as simple as get the auto engine and remove the gearbox and put a manual on ?

And just wonder what sort of power you looking at producing

If I'm going to do it I'd have the head ported etc

Yeah I think so. Haven't done it myself. Check out pollyps blog Frank's blog for more info on turboing. I've thought about it alot but not enough cash ATM to do it. I'd be going with a megasquirt 2 on a facelift engine as the flywheel has a trigger wheel from stock.

Also there's a sub section in the k11 mechanical section for forced aspiration. Check it out. Also l_jonez has a Micra engine in a mini check it out he's also on a mini forum
