Turbo Conversion (and everything else on my car)

Tyres are being fitted tomorrow, however, a parcel came in the post today, and my stainless steel pieces are here.

I'm building a log style manifold first, just to get the system running, before over-complicating.

that mani looks a bit asthmatic phil :eek:, the collector will be the same bore as the primaries surely ?, and where will the outlet be ?

outlet will be facing upwards above cylinder 3 and 4.

the area of the exhaust ports on the head are only 0.97 square inches, I have 2.6square inches in the manifold.

The final result will be to have an equal length tubular manifold, but I'm going to get it all running first, before doing the more complicated work and dragging it out :)

the problem is that #1,s exhaust pulse will be trying to exit down #3,s port just as #3,s exhaust valve is opening wont it ?
even the hks log manifold has some anti-reversion shape designed into it from what i gather :)

You're right frank, but the design isn't as important with forced induction as with N/A.

However, this isn't a perfect solution, but is a way to get a system up and running, and does have some advantages over a tubular manifold.

Quicker Spool
Stronger
Cheaper
Easier to fabricate.

However, at the top end of the rev range they can cost you 20hp ish, but I'll be aimining to have all my power as low as possible since my compresser inlet needs to be restricted to 34mm anyway for rallying.

Right, so I had a 10mm thick 1m piece of 316 stainless steel arrive yesterday (316 for some reason was cheaper than 304), but it has proven to be a lot more difficult to work with.

I'm making 2 manifolds, so the first cuts were the head flanges, I had to get a stainless steel cutting disc for the Evoltion Rage3 as the TCT disc will only cut 6mm mild, no chance with this stuff!

That was yesterday, today I nipped out and bought some cobalt drill bits and hole saw, and started to drill out the holes for the head, slow speeds high pressure and a LOT of cooling needed!
