Turbo advice

Hi peeps need a bit of advice on a turbo as I have no experience.

Got a fault with the turbo unit on my mrs's Astra cdti. It's making an awful screaming noise at off boost conditions. It's def the turbo cos if I open he wastegate it stops. However I have noticed a potential fault.

Well I think it is so this is what I'm checking, the hot and cold side of the tubby dint seem to be directly connected I can hold the cold compressor wheel so it doesn't move but the hot side still appears to move as tho the shaft is either broke or has a slipping device built in

My Clio tubby isn't like this both turbines are locked together.

The turbo is still making some boost. I'm going to drop it off the car tomorrow and take a look, just want to know if that is normal operation on some turbos, i

praps the compressor wheel just needs tightening scott ? (they,re only held by friction eh)
You'll need to remove the downpipe to tighten it up if it is that so imo might as well whip it out and check it over :) they are mechanical things so you should have no trouble working out what's going on:)
