Well yeah, but with a 9:1 comp ratio the engine can potentially generate 9bar pressure at exhaust port, 4psi pressure is a fraction of that... the orders of magnitude are different.

I think that's what's caused alot of the confusion. I still call it back pressure which is only the pull on a closed exhaust valve. Not the gas flow which is what matters
