Timing belt change recommendation

Can anyone recommend a trustworthy and reasonable priced garage in the Teeside area that can change the timing belt/water pump on my 2003 dci?

I understand special timing tools are needed.

And can anyone indicate an approx cost?

Hi @Microdot ,

Our local independent garage charges about £180 (inc VAT, labour and parts) to change the timing belt. I'm not sure what they charge to change the water pump at the same time as mine is timing chain driven and not a belt so I've never had it done on my Micra but have had the timing belt changed on a similar sized car to yours.

I'm based in Cornwall so I can't help you with local garages in your area but hopefully this will give you some idea of expected costs.

Many thanks, the local Renault dealer quoted £470 belt only, + everything else extra!

An independent, who honestly admitted he's never done one on a Micra, said he's done several on the K9K fitted to other cars, and has quoted £220 for the full kit, including water pump, and coolant change, so likely I'll go with him.
