Tapping Noise?

Driving today noticed a strange rattly/tappy noise which only seems to happen as the revs get quite high.
Sounds a bit like a rattle snake in my engine?
Any ideas?
I was thinking tappets but why would that only come on at high revs?

its best to open the bonnet and try to pinpoint what area its coming from

yer tried earlier but difficult to tell as you have to be running such high revs!

Yep there's more to the MSC than K11's Squarepants

Maybe something's loose? I imagine at high revs, there's more vibration in the car.

if you find it outside the engine youve got a problem

Have you found the exact whereabouts of the noise MM?

Check your Tappet Gaps, and check tightness of locknuts.
Engine Overheating? - what does the Temp sender say?
Check Oil

...at the back of mind the idea of the large square plate at the front of the car may be loose....

found the problem, alternator tensioner arm (bit connecting to the engine), the bolt had come out! was driving round with basically the pivot bolts holding the belt at tension!

I think mine is gone, I have just started getting a knock from the front of the car near the bottom.

bad times if it has man! We just sold a lucida diesel turbo with the big ends gona, refused to go above 1500 revs and was practically undriveable! I hope it's not for your sake mate

There is a good chance it's just the downpipe with a snapped rubber. If it has gone I'd fix it lol. I love the little beast.
