Tacho for K11

I recently purchased a '96 Micra Vibe NCVT (21K miles !) to use as a commuter car. It's a bit basic, but great fun to drive. As it's not got a Tach and with the CVT, it would be nice to know just what the engine is doing! I tried to hook up a spare instrument which has worked on numerous other cars, but no luck. My Haynes manual circuit diagram (a bit poor) shows a blue/black wire from the CPU to the instrument panel labelled Tacho. I spliced into this behind the instruments but it seens to have 12V steady with the engine running.
Anyone managed to get a Tach working on a K11?
Anyone know where to get a "proper" circuit diagram?

i got the gauge cluster from an SLX and chucked it in my GX, the taco worked fine, no mods needed.

get and SLX / SuperS gauge cluster, it's a straight swap

That doesnt work on 1L's. If you get an aftermarket tacho, then you wantto splice into the blue wire coming from the sdistributor (on the right hand side of theengine) IIC it is the top wire
