stunnly loose gear stick

hi all

got a problem. a loose gearstick. i was driving allong went to change gear and sudenly the gear stick became loose. wouldent go in to 1st or 3d but would go in to 2nd and 4th. managed to get home lol. i have read i could be a broken spring!?

Any one else had this prob and found a way to fix?

If it won't go in gear, then i doubt it's the gear lever return spring. I think it may be a gearbox issue.

might be worth checking the gearchange rod bolt is,nt hanging off, as a result of the clutch repair

cool. just drove car and g box is fine. can get in to all gears just have to push further. car jacked up now. looking how to get to under the rod. have to move exhaust and heat plate i think? checked where rod connects to box and looks fine.

im still geusing spring?

i assume you topped up the gearoil when you sorted the potjoint problem ?

just fixed it. slide heat shiled across so as to access under the rod. descovered 1 broken spring and 1 missing bolt! put new bolt in and bent spring so was repaired and hooked in place.
