sticky speedo needle

Hey,

Recently i've noticed when i've been driving and come to a stand still (ie traffic lights) the needle of my speedo sticks at about 20mph.

When i move off and get to a speed of over 20mph (or what ever its stuck on) the needle then moves.A couple of times when it gets stuck and i bring the clutch up to move, the needle suddenly drops down to 10mph or less.

What can i do to resolve this problem? I dont wanna remove the dials as i dont feel confident about disabling the air bag etc.

Many thanks

i had this problem mate, on mine i gave the speedo cable a good oil just in case it was that and was too no avail only thing i did that managed to fix it was replace the clocks, i found on mine that it only did it in hot weather and a good bang on the dash sorted it out is yours the same?

yeah if i tap the dials it moves back down.If i replace the dials, will the mileage be affected or is that seperate?

Also,i've recently went from (standard) 13" wheels,to 15" alloys...will this put my speedo out?
