Start up - missing a beat

I have a little Nissan Micra E 53 aka Charlie the Nissan. Charlie is 19.
I have noticed when Charlie starts up and he’s just turning over, he sometimes misses like a beat. I noticed the rev counter goes down and then back up quickly, sometimes he does this a couple of times and then he’s ok.
It’s mostly when he’s cold or I haven’t driven him for a few days, but I noticed he was doing it more recently (but mainly when just started) sometimes when stationery at lights (I am worried he might stall)
I haven’t taken him to the garage yet as I want to get an experts opinion.
Is this a timing thing or the engine just not being warm enough?
Please can anyone help. Thanks Sarah

Oxidation in battery terminals and/or cables to ground and starter, might also be that battery is coming to the end of it's life
If you disconnect battery terminals, feed 12V to battery cables from outside source.
This way you don't end up asking for security code...
