Komrade, it is a sad day in the motherland...

the GA16 conversion has been dismissed as too expensive...it'll blow the budget for project turtle out of the park before anything gets put together!

i'll start my K10 blog when i pick it up on saturday (fingers crossed)

Progress time!

well as those have read my other posts, the cambelt snapped took out the valves. so whilst i knock around in my new daily (fiestat van ....urrrgh) its coming off the road for some work. to-do list.
1. CG13DE conversion hopefully runing bike carbs and custom exhaust.
2.strip out interior in the back and build false floor with sub in spare wheel well.
3.lowered 35 mm and decent shocks
4. almera 1.4 brake conversion
5.got a mate whos going to replace the sill (excellent welder should look as new :) )
6.finish custom rear bumper and fit side skirts. also try fitting golf mk2 arches.
7.mx5 14" minilite style wheels
8.then respray in white with green detailing. will hopefully do a step-by-step guide on the conversion.

much better imo

another 2 weeks and another change of plan! been offered a 5 door k10 1.0 with 55k for £90 so will be taking engine gearbag and any other bits i need and the rest will be on sale here. its a 5 speed 1.0 so shouldnt it have the high comp ma10? the engine plate said ma10 shouldnt it say ma10s? little confused. anyway hopefully get the engine swapped over the next couple of weeks. will be keeping to the plan i posted above just a bike carbed ma10 instead of a cg13.

well now ive got the donor works started. sunday started off with removing wiring and labelling, then with nothing to drain coolant etc into had to contend myself with removing rear seat, dizzy, fuel pump and starter, hopefully tuesday il be able to pop up between work and drain everything then get manifolds off and then over the week hopefully get the gearbag off :)

more progress manfiolds off exhaust and selector rods off, drivers side shaft off out , unfortunatly passenegrs side lower arms proving a pain to pop out but once i ve got the other shaft out engines ready to drop. started on custom dials and should be starting on custom dash and odering some suspension in the next couple of days :)

sounds like some nice progress (Y) would love to see some pictures of it! and see it in person one day :)

Thanks buddy with summer coming im hoping to really get started on it im hoping to have it on the road in time for at least a couple of shows this year. we will have to meet up when its finished and il bring mojo micra as hes a dab hand with a camera and can do a k10 super/super s photoshoot if your up for it? would love to see your beast in the metal

Yeah we will have to Meet up at somepoint, you weren't at the scrap yard Saturday were you?
Saw a few guys stripping a White k10.

slowly getting there got the engine out sunday managed to drop it out the bottom and slide it out through the arch, inspection with a torch down the ports showed exhaust valve on no.4 cyl only partially sealed shut and no.1 completely off the valve seat and all four inlets where bent open :S will be hopefully getting the engine out of the donor MicRED next week and should hopefully have it in if not running this time next week :)

right been a while since an update progress has been slow due to me being adament that we could move/ lift the engine and gearbox by hand proved a little tricky. anyway as pictures show been busy cut the front of the micred donor to get it all out then over to the micrap to put it in started yesterday looking rather puzzled as how to lift it into place cue some playing with a scissor and trolley jack and its in! unfortunately the rear mount get bent when the engine fell over  so took it off over engine and bolted it all up anyway by the end of play yesterday everythings now done just needs some fluids and a battery and fingers crossed should be running :laugh: started on a new grill today and spraying the mirrors should hopfully putting a decent exhaust on soon and then wait whilst i have the sill and paint redone and should be on the road again :) will be glad to have it back as a 1.2 nova just doesnt cut it like a micrap.

well another update exhausts fitted along with dizzy wiring repaired all set to try it but the battery was well and truely dead even connected up to the nova via jump leads the battery read a lowly 11-10v . hopefully the battery out the red micra will be better and should be running sunday although the exhaust needs to come off now as got this through :D :D many thanks to super ls for this

i got one of them too! lol

well getting there slowly got some lowering springs, front kyb shocks , rear arb and super s steering wheel and clocks to fit. was going to do the front suspension today but due to a heavy night didnt start till 3. tried a new battery on it today and started up was great to have it running again although its only running on 3 cylinders at the mo not sure wether its due to a chewed up servo to inlet manifold hose causing air leak or ignition problem checked the leads and plugs but unfotunately the dizzy caps stuck on as one of the screws heads was ruined :( another job for another day. went to do the suspension only to find the biggest sockets i had where 1/4" drive so couldnt get it off so contented myself by test fitting one of the nova wheels. im chuffed with the look but will be even better when the wheels are refurbed in white and the lower suspensions on :)

more progress today the misfire cured itself its now running nicely ran it up to temp with no problems what so ever. only problems was a high idle speed but it was due to badly adjusted throttle cable. fitted the front lowering springs and shocks made a bit of difference to the ride height but most importantly the marshmellow softness has gone replace with nice firm suspension :) replaced the drivers door pin as it had a large chunk missing made the door drop less but it seems the actual door side of the hinge is an oval so it still drops but door doesnt need to be slammed as much. tried to fit rear springs but the bottom bolt on the shocks wouldnt budge seems the metal sleeve has rusted onto the bolt causing the bush to shred and the bolt to be jammed :(

good work mate, you get the rears sorted uet?

you will probablly have major trouble getting the rear link bolts out to change for the rear arb links, you will end up grinding the heads of the bolts off and getting new ones, the bolts rust and sieze into the metal crush tube inside the rubber bush and there almost impossible to get out.

been a while since i updated havent done much as funds have been short got new gas shocks for the rear so they are all sorted had to grind one of the old shocks of at the bottom and the other at the top mount so its sitting nicely. have left the rear arb till its on the road as its a job im dreading.. rusted bolts = for the bin. got central locking on it now. fitted the super s dials only to find the rev counter was dead :( so going to fit the standard dials back in and fit a rev counter in a centre pod with volt gauge and clock. should be getting the sill seen to this week all the rusts going to be cut out and replaced then down to the mot station :) after that plans is to get the surface rust on the passengers wing and door rubbed down then resprayed along with the peeling drivers door, replacement drivers wing, wing mirrors and custom back bumper. then for the resto side of the project im done. i think it should last a few more years with all signs of rust gone , all the paint perfect and the all the mechanicals from a regular serviced 55k car. as for mods im far from done :)

more progress put the alloys on today but i messed up :( i test fitted them on the front where they fit fine, but on the back they dont sit on the hub properly back to the drawing board also changed the broken rear light with decent ones also retinted them and did them much much better. also stripped out some more trim. next up is to get the rear wheels to fit, take it to a friends to get sill replaced then in for the mot then to the bodyshop for finishing touches :)

well little progress. refurbed the steels as the alloys need serious work to fit, will probably give them a blow over in white at some point. also got the exhaust on although i couldnt get the 4-2-1 to line up and need to get it mot'd so have decided to leave the exhaust standard. all i need to do now is weld the drivers side sill and will be back on the road.

got some new wheels for it apparently they where off a k11 but match the 10 perfectly they where listed as 13x4.5 and was a bit worried about going narrower but when they arrived turned out to be 5.5j so win for me they need lower pro tyres and a blow over in white but im pleased. ill put it in for the mot in the next couple of weeks. i know its going to fail due to the drivers sill but at least ill know if theres anything else that needs doing as it hasent moved since january! once its t&t plan is to spray rear bumper fit some sunny zx box skirts ive got and remove any rust and spray . once thats done ill look into fitting the rear arb and 4-2-1 again. anyway pictures (please excuse the dirt lol)

i'm confused with the pictures...

A few posts back it was looking clean de trimmed lowered with fat golf steelies on it??

...probably me being dim!

well to update this neighbour dropped it off late xmas eve with new mot and welding done  :p unfortunately due to swinton wanting £190 to insure it for the final month of my policy i had to wait untill today when my policy finshed to insure it! my friends been borrowing it occasionally and it runs sweet as a nut and from the passengers seat can tell it handles much better although its eating fuel and seems down on power so something needs adjusting. the other thing is the crappy mixed budget tyres mean the drivers front wheel squeels at the slightest hint of a corner (makes me lol going gently round roundabouts in 3rd and watching everyone go wtf). the weldings been done fairly well once ive removed the surface rust from the welds and painted it should look as new! all thats left now is to finish tidying up the surface rust and get some tyres for the alloys :grinning::grinning::grinning:
