Speakers that don't....

Recently taken on my late father-in-law's K12 and only one speaker (rear RH) is working. I heard some crackling from the left side when I jacked up the volume but Fade and Balance do nothing. I wondered if this was a common failure on the OEM stereo? I don't want to waste money on an aftermarket unit if the squeakers are blown.

Yep, I went to the scrappy to replace mine. paid a fiver for 2
