hi guys,
ive got a 1.0L 1994 Micra 'Wave' which has a tendency to smoke badly under acceleration.. it usually happens when the engine is hot, and is occasionally accompinied by a slight engine 'stuttering'..
the car is bone stock with just over 94k on the clock..

im waiting to get a torque wrench before i go pulling out the plugs etc, but ive checked the air-filter and it looks ok....

s0 - any ideas anyone?..

hmmmm.....
it may well be general wear, as although the bodywork is reasonably tidy the gearbox is a bit noisy and occasionally hesitant to enguage 1st or 5th....

Check your oil regularly - is it a blue smoke? Most likely burning oil! or running too rich and wud be using hellish amounts of fuel

the oil level seems to be reasonably constant,

but i only got around 130 miles on half-a-tank of petrol - is that about right for consumption??..

its a bit high on consumtion, most people get around 300 to 320 miles per tank, so it sounds like you are running rich, which will cause black smoke from the exhaust when you floor it.
