small problem...

...thats likely to put me in a hedge.

got a tiny weeny problem with the k10, been doing it ages, well before x-mas, and before the cg engine.

driving along, maintainig speed or accelerating fine, steering wheel straight,
if i let off the power and keep the steering wheel locked the car darts to the left, keeping the wheel the same, apply power again, car straightens up.

ive kind of got used to moving the wheel when accelerating / braking to compencate for it, but its dangerous when on the flat and just squeesing the power to cruise, its all over the road.

its really doing my head in now, as the feeling gets amplified in the wet.

i kind of know what did it, well i have a good idea, theres a lane coming from work, plenty big enough for 2 cars if you move over, on the lane theres a sweeping left hand bend, no need to slow down for it its easily done at 40mph so nothing excessive, on the inside of the bend theres a masive pot hole, its about 3 feet long, 10 inches wide and about 6 inches deep, i know its there so i just keep the the right a little to keep away from it,

however this one day something was coming the other way and was over my side of the road a little forcing me right over to the left and straight into the hole/crater. the car went with such a bang as i jumped out of the hole, i honestly thought it had ripped the wheel off, stopped had a look, nothing broken or apperaed to be bent, so drove home,

up on the stands wheel off, nothing broken, no play in any joints, the wheel had been flattened on the inner rim, that had a flat spot, but as far as i could see nothing was bent or broken.

ever since then theres been a knocking on the front passanger side, and its been doing this pulling to the left whilst not accelerating.

the tracking is spot on, no play in wheel bearings, short of replacing everything (which i dont have the cash for) im stumped, any ideas???

cheers scott

also when i took it for the mot a couple of weeks ago, i told the tester about it and he found nothing wrong either.

could it be a wishbone rubber scott ? (the escorts were really bad for lurching left or right under power when the rubbers were shot)

I havent stripped it down but i did look at those and they seemed alright, ive had the crowbar in all the joinths and there was no play as i could see, nothing excessive anyway. might strip it down and have a look at the weekend if it ever stops raining.

Don't rule out the rear too.

Check the driveshafts with the front in the air too. Turn each a few degrees at a time and twist to check the freeplay. Feel for tight or loose spots.

Also check the pads and slides are free in the callipers.
