Hi all
Well I thought it was about time to create my own Blog for the wee beasty lol
Ive was looking for a cheap Jap car to use as a daily over the winter while my KE70 Corolla hibernates and I try and get on with it as a project!
I wanted something that was at least a bit interesting so i didnt get bored............. Ive always had a soft spot for the Micra Super S...................... so i bought one!!
Sooooo I bought a 1993 Super S from a member on here for £185 :grinning:
Well the car didnt have Tax or MOT and its pretty high mileage at 158k but one of the 3 owners had it for 14 years and it was pretty well looked after. All it should need for a new MOT is a few small patches of welding underneath and maybe a few bulbs, so its not to bad hopefully!
The suspension has already been replaced for some off a lower milage car.
It seems to drive fine with no smoke or strange noises so i think im good for a good while yet hopefully.
Body work is pretty good but has suffered a few small patches of rust. I think the arches are a little crusty under the Golf GTI plastic arches but Im looking at going wide anyway (you will see why in the pics lol). I even got a mint bonnet free with the car although in a different colour along with some other spares.
Inside its mint apart from a small scuff on the drivers bolster and 1 of the rear seat sections being a different colour, but im not worried about that!
All in all I think its gonna be a lot of fun for not much cash!
Heres some pics....................
A few spares in the boot too
There is a few little rusty bits but nothing I really worried about and ill sort them in time!
I had a bit of fun with my Corolla wheels and it could be running these at some point while the corolla is in storage! Just needs some hub adapters and some WIDER arches as well as a bit of lowering!!
Watanabes:
Enkei's:
Some of mine with mums 1.0
And the corolla enjoying its daily driving retirement lol
I got round to doing my first mod of fitting a propper air filter to replace the dubious fitting of the old one!
It was like this.................
I'm not sure its gonna filter much?? So I changed it to this.............
I also removed all the unnessessary pipework that went to the old airbox................
Then i fitted some tunes............... I had to being an Ex car audio technician but i wasnt worried about a massive system!
It sounds good even with the standard 4 speakers in there with the sub added! (Y)
The sub box is also on a quick release plug so i can remove it when not required.
Ive also bought a set of 14" BBS wheels nice and cheap but a little tatty! Came with good tyres though so they will do nicely to get it off the 13" Steel rims.
As they need to be referbished anyway I may well have a little fun with some colour.
What do you think?.................. (Photoshop)
Ide love to get some wide 13" Jap rims or Mini rims for a cheaper alternative but the BBS will do for now. I may still use my Corolla wheels but I do need to get some wider arches for that, so it will have to wait for a bit!
I also found a crack in my Exhaust manifold so i bodged it up with paste for now...............
But with a little hunting on here i contacted Frank and we are in the middle of sorting out one of his modded O/E ones!
After this Im hoping to order the rest of an exhaust system to finish of the breathing.
I also had an Issue with the wipers not stopping once started! I sorted this by simply replacing the wiper relay that I got from ebay
Ive also just had the welding done now so come payday ill be able to MOT and Tax it and get it on the road.
I did however get chance to drive it to and from my friends workshop (yes you can do this) for the first time since buying it and it seems to go rather well!
Bring on the BUDGET FUN!!!!
More to come!!
