Side lights not working on 2010 K12 micra

Hi,

Wondering if anyone is able to offer some assistance. The side lights on my micra are not working. Full beam, main beam brake and tail lights are all ok.

I was wondering if it could possibly be a fuse as both side lights are out?
The link below is a fuse box list but it doesn't seem to have one for side lights..

If it is not a fuse what else could it be?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

All of the lighting fuses on the K12 are in the IPDM box (upside down) under the near side headlight.....

Hi John, thank you very much for the reply.

Looking at the fuses it doesn’t seem to have one for the side lights, just main beam high for full beam and main beam high for low beam. Do you possibly have the other side to that wiring diagram to see where the wiring to feed the side lights goes?

The 'Haynes Book of Lies' isn't very clear on this but the side lights, front and rear have a common fuse for each side, fuse 35 is for the R.H.side and fuse 36 is for the L.H. side.......I can confirm this as I managed to take out the fuse for the passenger side front and rear sidelights when I was playing around with the rear light on that side some time ago and like you, being unable to find the appropriate fuse in the logical, easily accessible place, finally hunted it down to the IPDM under the bloody headlight! (and proceeded to curse the imbecilic designer at Renault (the Micra K12 being a joint design venture with Renault on the Mk3 Clio) who thought that it would be a great place to locate the lighting fuses! (however, on the Clio the IPDM is more accessible and the headlight does not have to be removed to get to it, so perhaps I should be cursing the Nissan designer who made the headlights so bloody difficult to remove.........)

I see so it is a common fuse for each side front and back labelled as Tail RH and Tail LH. I am looking forward to removing the lights they never make these things easy by hiding bolts in hard to get to places. Like you say I can’t understand the logic in putting that fuse box in such an awkward place! Will give it a go and see how I get on. Thank you for you help.

Be aware that there are 3 bolts to undo to remove the light, the 3rd, lower bolt, being a nightmare to undo without removing the bumper..... I have used a ratchet ring spanner to get at it, though I nearly always manage to damage my wrists against the plastic bumper edges in the process.... The IPDM has not got a removable top, you have to physically unclip it and rotate it to gain access to the underside where the fuses and relays sit, upside down, totally uncovered, another piece of bloody brilliant French design!!

That lower bolt does look difficult to get to. Is it possible to clip off part of the bumper rather than taking the whole thing off?

I've always managed to get it undone (and more importantly replaced and done up again) without disturbing the bumper shell, by just removing the upper grill panel and working through the somewhat limited gap created, albeit with scratches and bruises on my wrists to show for it, but there again at my age I sadly scratch and bruise easily now ☹ . No doubt someone younger, with smaller hands would find it easier. The secret is to use a ratchet ring spanner (10mm A/F). Aldi did a couple of really good sets a while ago really cheaply, one straight and the other set hinged.....
The whole set from Aldi was about a tenner....

All sorted, turns out it was both side lamps that had blown at the same time. Managed to get them out without removing the headlamps. The screw caps are very fiddly as there is not much space behind to grip them. Thanks for the information on the fuse box, I know where it is now for any future problems. I checked the bolt under the headlamp and it is tough to get to. I think those spanners you recommended are a good idea I will have to get some.

Many thanks again for your help.

Every once in a while Aldi has them on special offer, about £10 for the whole set, they are surprisingly good quality and made in Germany, not China as you might expect for that price........I have those and the straight combination ones.....
